The 2008 National Hurricane Conference was held in Orlando, Florida this past week. During the event many meteorologists and emergency managers from across the country and Caribbean gathered to learn and share the information that has become so critical in developing life saving programs during landfalling hurricanes.

On Thursday, April 3, 2008 the attendees gathered to honor award nominees with the prestigious awards for the work they have done during the past year.

Included in the awards ceremony was Robert Brookens aka "Barometer Bob", President of Hurricane Hollow Weather Corp. Robert was presented with a Special Award.

The award plaque states:

"For your commitment in relaying awareness and preparedness information to the American people and our Caribbean neighbors through websites, internet broadcasts, billboards, and the Barometer Bob Show".

This is a first in so many ways.

Robert Brookens began Hurricane Hollow Weather in May 1998 to share weather information through the Internet. The website has grown to receive millions of visits during each hurricane season.

Through the Barometer Bob Show and Hurricane Hollow's Eye on the Storm, Robert continuously promotes awareness and preparedness of severe weather and hurricanes throughout the year on the Weather Radio Broadcast Network.

"This has been a great honor to be recognized by the awards committee and the people that work year round to protect and warn us of severe weather and hurricanes.", said Robert.

Many people have been touched by the work Robert and a small group of volunteers have done. He will continue to warn people of the dangers, and how to be ready the next time a storm threatens their area.

You can find out more by going to Hurricane Hollow Weather or U.S.Weather Watchers.Com. Also, go and listen to his show at The Barometer Bob Show every Thursday night at 8PM/ET on WRBN.Net.
