This page will list the scanner, amateur radio and satellite tracking software that I use and highly recommend. I also keep an official copy of the released version of each, with the authors permission. You can also purchase GPS and associated software from my aStore page as well. There I also have the links for the Flight Simulator pages and books.
Scanner & Amateur Radio Software
bcTool
bcTool was developed out of a need for a quick, stable and reliable piece of software which did not cost anything, had solid remote control of the scanner, had simple, easy to use programming and had some extremely advanced logging and control options. As a result bcTool is on the way to becoming a must in every Uniden owners toolkit! bcTool is developed by Rob Parker, and tested by tens of people every day in our Yahoo! Group. There is a quick development turnaround, with new beta versions being made available on a daily (and sometimes more often for serious problems) basis. If you wish to help test bcTool, join the Yahoo! group. There are downloads made available there and updated on a daily basis. Officially released early this year, bcTool is becoming one of the best upcoming software for the Uniden scanners. Easy to use and very functional. The good news is, the best is yet to come. There are some very unique features that are being planned, and you'll have to check out the site and bcTool list to keep up to date. Available Files The following files are provided by myself and other members of the bcTool team. As the program grows and more files are available, more will be provided here. Remember: Beta releases are beta releases for a reason - they may have incomplete features, instability or may not work at all. In general, I try to ensure that all beta releases are stable and safe to use before release. You can also find the latest release notes posted to the Yahoo! Group as new beta releases are issued. Repeater split files:
The following files are provided as is, for those that live in the Durham Region area. If you have bcTool files that you would like to be made available, just let me know. Either send the file to me, or just provide the link and I'll add it to the list.
bcTool is the product of over 600 hours of late nights, weekends and holidays spent by one developer. Whilst bcTool is freeware, much of the software used to create it was not free and was paid for by Rob. If you enjoy using bcTool, want to show your appreciation or just fancy buying Rob a beer, you can send over a donation using the PayPal link. Donations are accepted via PayPal in any currency and there is no suggested amount. Please help Rob out. Other Supplemental Files Satellite Tracking Software
Orbitron Satellite Tracking
Orbitron - Orbitron is a satellite tracking system for radio amateur and observing purposes. It's also used by weather professionals, satellite communication users, astronomers, UFO hobbyist and even astrologers. Orbitron shows the positions of satellites at any given moment (in real or simulated time). Sebastian Stoff has done a great job on taking satellite tracking to the next level. Even though staellite tracking hsn't really changed much through the years, Sebastian has given it a new look. I have been very proud to help Sebastian with a very small part of his project, by providing the satellite information. Orbitron is available for Windows, but can be operated on Linux via Wine. After taking some time off, Sebastian has returned and is looking at improving his very popular software. He is even looking at a new webbased project as well. For more information, please visit his site or his new forum by clicking here. You can download Orbitron using this link. If you have trouble with the main link, I also have it available via my site here. Available Files
Gpredict Satellite TrackingGpredict is a real-time satellite tracking and orbit prediction application. It can track an unlimited number of satellites and display their position and other data in lists, tables, maps, and polar plots (radar view). Gpredict can also predict the time of future passes for a satellite, and provide you with detailed information about each pass. Gpredict is different from other satellite tracking programs in that it allows you to group the satellites into visualisation modules. Each of these modules can be configured independently from the others giving you unlimited flexibility concerning the look and feel of the modules. Naturally, Gpredict will also allow you to track satellites relatively to different observer locations - at the same time. Gpredict is free software licensed under the GNU General Public License. This gives you the freedom to use and modify gpredict to suit your needs. Moreover, gpredict is available for most platforms including Unix/Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows. Gpredict is available for download here.

A scanner is a radio receiver that can automatically tune, or scan, two or more discrete frequencies, stopping when it finds a signal on one of them and then continuing scanning when that frequency goes silent. Many scanners cover the non-broadcast radio bands between 30 and 951 MHz using FM, although there are models that cover more of the radio spectrum and use other modulation types.
The mission of Hurricane Hollow Weather is to inform and educate the public about the dangers of hurricanes and provide knowledge which can be used to prepare before the storm threatens. This information can be used to save lives at home, at work, on the road, or on the water.
